What I realized when I started running: 9 thoughts about speed and cookies on the road

I think great, guys

Thinking well while running. Adrenaline makes you think quickly, dopamine throws up options and sharpens intuition, serotonin expands consciousness, and norepinephrine pushes you to make decisions. A leisurely run is very similar to a light nap with visions, dreams, memories. You just have to direct your thoughts a little. This is how marathon runners become poets.

Everyone needs a coach

In order to consistently assess yourself and progress in running, you need a coach. The coach is a side view. This is inertia. When you plan your training yourself, you can change plans at any time. But when the coach develops them, you cannot simply refuse the task.

For hyper-responsible people, a good coach is almost a panacea.

And a coach is experience and wisdom. No matter how smart and diligent you are, the coach grows faster. You have only one student - you, and the coach has a dozen. So he grows ten times faster, learning from the mistakes of his students.

There are no universal techniques

Each person has his own anatomy: if you approach it strictly, the length of the right leg is different from the length of the left. In some, the toe is turned outward, in others inward; in some, the ankle allows you to sit on the buttocks without lifting the heels, while others do not; some have legs with an X, others have a barrel.

And do you seriously think that there is one universal ideal technique?

Experiment and listen to yourself, no trainer will get under your skin.

One or two, more often a step

Try to run as often as possible. The leg does not have time to fly forward and touches the ground directly under the center of gravity. There is no movement up and down, no blow to the knee. See how quickly the children move their legs: they feel how to run correctly.

Willpower

Willpower is a matter of energy. If we are in good physical shape, sleep well, eat and watch a nice movie, we have built up a reserve of willpower. When there is not enough energy, the body switches control to the deeper structures of the brain. Survival requires instinct.

Not far, not close

Don't set your goals too far. You will run out of willpower halfway through and either get out of the way or the movement will become excruciating. In life, as in a marathon, if you don't guess the right pace or distance, everything turns into a mockery of yourself and the audience.

Setting intermediate goals greatly facilitates the achievement of the main one, as if you are laying out cookies on the road.

But one more thing: don't set your goals too closely. Will degrades from easy victories.

We run, but slowly

To run fast, you must learn to run slowly. Boring? How can it be boring to be alone with yourself when no one is interfering? Slow running is a time for reflection, meditation and unity with the outside world. Take your time: the result will come faster if it is not customized.

Run and believe

Training methods, diet, and sneaker selection are a matter of religion, not research. What you believe works well.

I was born in January 1995 and immediately started writing. I wrote on everything - on papers, on the street and in my father's passport. At school, I was also an active editor of the school newspaper. At university I wrote scientific articles and participated in student conferences. Now, I work as a journalist in a regional magazine. I once helped my sister's classmates to write an essays. And everyone liked my work. That's how I started to apply my skills of writing scientific articles.
